Academic Service-Learning

Faculty are encouraged to consider adding a Service-Learning component to their courses when appropriate. Click here to access the Academic Service-Learning Toolkit. Click here to access the ASL Course Guidelines.

To have your course designated as ASL, follow the appropriateprocess below:

For new Undergraduate course:

1. Within the existing college procedures, prepare the syllabus meeting all university requirements and the standard ASL components.

2. Submit syllabus to Community Engagement College Liaison who will coordinate with Weppner Center

3. Upon receiving certificationby the CE College Liaison, attach to a New Course Formwith reference to ASL attached certification in “Course Description” box.

4. Follow existing college/university procedures for submission to UUPC, Steering, and UFS

5. After UFS approval, the University Registrar is notified to add the designation in Banner and the faculty member is notified.

For Undergraduate Existing course:

1 Modify the existing syllabus meeting all the standard ASL components

2. Submit syllabus to Community Engagement College Liaison who will coordinate with Weppner Center

3. Upon receiving certificationby the CE College Liaison, attach to a Change Course Formwith reference to ASL attached certification in “Change description to:” box

4. Follow existing college/university procedures for submission to UUPC, Steering, and UFS
