FAU Receives First Forward Designation
鶹ýӳ’s was recently named a “First Forward Institution” by The Center for First-generation Student Success, an initiative of NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and The Suder Foundation.
The Office of First-Generation Student Success serves as a referral hub to the various services that exist to inspire and assist first-generation students at FAU, including academic support, advising, financial assistance and scholarships, mentorship, and the “First and Proud” registered student organization.
“FAU is dedicated to creating a brighter future for talented first-generation students,” said . “Failure to do so puts us at risk of losing many of our most gifted high school graduates.”
The First Forward designation recognizes institutions of higher education who have demonstrated a commitment to improving experiences and advancing outcomes of first-generation college students. Selected institutions receive professional development, community-building experiences, and a first look at the Center’s research and resources.
“First Forward is an exciting opportunity for FAU to join an elite community of professionals prepared to share evidence-based practices and resources, troubleshoot challenges, generate knowledge, and continue to advance the success of first-generation students across the country. We are excited to see a groundswell of activity from the First Forward cohort and know FAU will be a significant contributor,” said Kevin Kruger, Ph.D., president of NASPA.
