鶹ýӳ’s annual Dance Marathon fundraiser raised a record $188,234.16 for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). The number exceeded organizers’ goal of $130,000, and nearly tripled what participants raised during last year’s event. Proceeds from OwlThon will go directly to University of Florida’s Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville.
“OwlThon is more than just an organization. It brings the student body and community together as one to help these children,” said Jordan Klein, student director of OwlThon. “These families deserve more days, months and years with their ill children, and we’re here to lend a hand and give them hope for another tomorrow.”
More than 500 participants danced on their feet for 13.1 hours, which was meant to give them a greater understanding of the struggles that children go through as they are treated for their illnesses at CMN hospitals.
FAU is one of more than 350 schools across the country raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Last year alone, dance marathons raised more than $26 million for CMN hospitals.
